This year, The General Board of Global Ministries is celebrating 200 years of Methodist Mission. Throughout the years countless Iowans have served around the world, and the Mission Education Booth will collect their stories at Annual Conference this year.
“At the Mission Bicentennial event in Atlanta last April, I kept stumbling upon stories of Iowans who have been serving in mission throughout these centuries,” said Rev. Katie Dawson, who serves as a director on The General Board of Global Ministries. “So often we don’t take the time here to share their stories.”
The booth will have a large map where you can make your mark with a pin, add pictures, news clippings or other memorabilia that help share the story of ways you or your church have participated in Methodist Mission.
As the Iowa Board of Global Ministries looks to the future of Methodist Mission, Rev. Elizabeth Oder says all types of ministry is important, no matter the kind or size.
“Everyone is capable of doing missions, and we all have gifts that allow us to serve,” she said.
